The name Flaunt represents the confidence that I now possess to take on this new winemaking adventure. It is the confidence that I have earned over the past two decades. When I started in the wine business in the early 1990’s, I was fearless because I was so young and inexperienced. Now I know enough to say that starting Flaunt Wine Company is my calling. I am thrilled to start this and to share it all with you.
For me, Flaunt Wine Company is the realization of a long-held dream.
I have always loved Champagne. Growing up, the happiest occasions were celebrated by my family with the popping of bottles and the clinking of glasses. It was exciting and fun and joyful for everyone. Occasionally, I was even allowed to join in!
As I got older, I had more and more opportunities to enjoy different types of Sparkling Wines. A huge step was at my first job out of college, working in the Epicure Department of Neiman Marcus. There I got to taste many different wines, including some of the most desirable and expensive Champagnes. I was hooked!
For my first wedding anniversary, back in 1996, I went to Champagne. I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to visit the places that made some of my favorite wines in the world. At Bollinger, I met the cooper that helped repair their barrels. And at Krug, I was able to taste the still wine before the secondary fermentation with one of the Krug family members.
We celebrated many milestones throughout our twenty plus years of living and working and raising our family in beautiful Sonoma County and Sparkling Wine was always there to mark these wonderful occasions.
After making still wine for more than two decades, I am finally able to fulfill my fantasy of producing Sparkling Wine.
The road I am on has brought me to this moment. Now is my time to celebrate. Now is my chance to Flaunt!
